About

Biography

Iman Farahbakhsh is an Assistant Professor of Maritime Engineering — Hydromechanics and Propulsion Systems at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), where he has taught and researched since 2019.

His work sits at the meeting point of computational fluid dynamics and numerical linear algebra: immersed boundary and one-continuum methods for fluid–structure interaction, energy-gradient analysis of fluid instability, high fidelity solvers for the large sparse systems behind incompressible flow and the multiphysics solvers based on mesh-free methods. He is the author of Krylov Subspace Methods with Application in Incompressible Fluid Flow Solvers (Wiley, 2020) and develops open-source research codes, including FRESIS, FEGC, SPHMPS and HOC-Krylov.

In 2022 he was a guest researcher in Fluid Mechanics, Coastal and Maritime Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), working on two-phase wave–body interaction. He received his PhD in Maritime Engineering — Hydromechanics from Amirkabir University of Technology in 2015, following an MSc in Maritime Engineering — Hydrodynamics and Propulsion and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering — Thermo-Fluid.
